Domesticated horses would be required to wear the perfect tacks before they are taken for a ride. It requires some skill and training to tack up a horse and for this purpose, certain basic items would be required. Two types of tacks are available in the market for horses, English and Western. Saddles, breastplates, bridles and lead ropes are some of the items that make up a tack. They have to be cleaned on a regular basis in order to maintain the shine and to increase their life. Earlier, all the tacks were made of leather, which needed much care and attention to prevent it wearing out. In recent times, tacks made of synthetic materials are available and they can be a good replacement for leather.
